The existing 1920's era stone house was moved to Austin's Travis Heights neighborhood in the 1960's. The new renovation inserts a modern loft into the old stone exterior. A skylit spiral stair links the new second floor living area to an open plan dining and kitchen area on the lower floor. A new steel ridge beam allows for new sloped ceilings on the second floor. A custom designed and built media cabinet defines a circulation space and gallery wall lined with weathered cedar planks. A large new window brings diffuse northern light to the living room and a view to downtown. Bold red kitchen cabinets and Bisazza tile at the baths add colorful accents.
