An existing 1926 Prairie Style residence in north Oakland received a major renovation and new second story addition. Gray Slatescape panels with aluminum reveals establish a new palette of materials for the addition, drawing inspiration from the patterns in the existing windows and eaves. The introduction of a continuous stucco sill below the new second story windows and the replication of the existing eave details unite this modern addition with the horizontal lines of the original house. A large new skylight over the modified existing stair brings abundant natural light to the interior.
