This new detached studio in north Oakland was completed several years before construction began on the renovation and addition to the main house. Horizontal eave lines relate the new studio to the 1926 Prairie Style main house (see Gargani Lynch Residence). Corrugated metal panels create texture and shadow lines and continue the horizontal theme. Clerestory windows bring light into the main space while respecting required setbacks. A waxed concrete slab with radiant heat allows for a large custom barn-sliding glazed door to open the studio to the side yard and to an impressive redwood tree.
