A new sunroom addition creates new living space and an airy new connection between the existing house and curved pool. The structure and materials were distilled down to the most elemental components - new stone columns & fireplace, redwood beams and wood sliding doors. A new steel flitch plate ridge beam projects to the exterior, where carpenters slipped a solid redwood beam (salvaged from the old porch) over the steel for a seamless effect. An additional salvaged redwood beam serves as the new fireplace mantle.
