This 600sf new accessory structure, located in south Austin, was designed to serve as a recording studio and additional space for the family. Sound rated walls, windows and doors buffer outside noise. A trapezoidal plan, eliminating parallel side walls, and a vaulted ceiling lend the space its favorable acoustic. By sinking one end of the studio 3 1/2' into the upper yard, the scale of the studio was diminished so as not to overwhelm the main house. The two-tiered yard allows for the two realms of house and studio to peacefully co-exist.
